CORNISH POSTINGS

mark@markjenkinsart.co.uk

A recent trip to Cornwall revealed a hidden gem...an exhibition of the fabulous Dame Laura Knight's work at Penley House in Penzance including a series of sublime portraits - all of which looked even better in the flesh! There was also a fabulous painting of Malvern as seen from the Mount Pleasant hotel during Laura Knight's stay in Malvern in the 1940s/50s. Well worth a visit if you are in Cornwall this summer.

It is no wonder that so many artists move to Cornwall for its incredible light and rugged coastline - Mullion Cove on the Lizard Peninsula inspired me to start sketching again and here are a few pages from my sketchbook which hopefully will find their way into a painting some time soon...watch this space.....
